Equipment

  • 1 mixing bowl

Ingredients

  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 cups mayonnaise
  • 4 tsp dill weed (finely chopped)
  • salt to taste
  • 4-6 tablespoon dill pickle (finely chopped)
  • 4 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice

Instructions

  • Place your mayonnaise and lemon juice into a large bowl, and incorporate the chopped pickles and dill weed. Mix everything together until all of the ingredients are nicely blended.
  • Don't forget to season your sauce with freshly-ground pepper, then take a taste test to make sure that salt is added as needed.
  • Cover the bowl with saran wrap and let it sit in the refrigerator for one hour to chill. For more richer flavors, leaving it to refrigerate overnight is ideal.
  • Lastly, give your masterpiece a final stir before serving to reveal its true flavor potential.

Notes

1. Make sure to use the right ingredients for your tartar sauce. Use mayonnaise, pickles, dill and other seasonings according to your taste.
2. Chop the pickles into small pieces, so they are evenly distributed throughout the sauce.
3. Mix all the ingredients in a bowl until everything is blended together smoothly and there are no lumps or clumps in the sauce.
4. Add lemon juice or white vinegar to the mixture if you prefer a tangier flavor profile to your tartar sauce.
5. Adjust any seasoning as desired and add more until it tastes right!
