Equipment

  • 1 Small bowl

Ingredients

For Cookies and Cream Rolls:

  • All-purpose flour for rolling, ensuring a smooth and non-stick surface for rolling out the dough.
  • 2 tablespoons of velvety unsalted butter melted to perfection, adding a rich and buttery flavor to the rolls.
  • 1/2 pound 8 ounces of premium frozen bread or pizza dough, thawed to room temperature, ensuring a soft and pliable texture.
  • 2 tablespoons of fine granulated sugar expertly measured to sweeten the dough and enhance its overall taste.
  • 1/2 teaspoon of aromatic ground cinnamon freshly ground for a warm and spicy note, elevating the flavor profile of the rolls.
  • 1/2 tablespoon of rich cocoa powder sourced from high-quality cocoa beans, adding a deep chocolate flavor to the dough.
  • 2 tablespoons of delectably crushed Oreo cookies ensuring a delightful cookies and cream filling in every bite.
  • Cooking spray as needed, for greasing, ensuring the rolls come out perfectly baked without sticking to the pan.

For Vanilla Cream Icing and Cookie Topping:

  • 2 tablespoons of creamy unsalted butter softened to perfection, adding a rich and buttery note to the icing.
  • 2 ounces of sumptuous cream cheese softened to a smooth consistency, ensuring a creamy base for the icing.
  • 1/4 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract extracted from the finest vanilla beans, adding a heavenly aroma and flavor to the icing.
  • 1/2 cup of fine confectioners' sugar meticulously sifted for a velvety smooth icing, providing the perfect sweetness.
  • 1 tablespoon of indulgent crushed Oreo cookies adding a delightful crunch and a cookies and cream twist to the topping.
  • 1 tablespoon of fresh milk expertly measured, ensuring a perfect consistency for the icing, with more available as needed.

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper and set aside.
  • On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough into an 8×14-inch rectangle.
  • In a small bowl, stir together melted butter, sugar, cocoa powder, and cinnamon until well mixed. Spread the mixture on top of the dough, leaving a 1/2-inch border around the edges. Sprinkle crushed Oreo cookies over the mixture evenly.
  • Starting at one end, roll up the dough and pinch along the seam to seal it closed. Cut off any excess ends if needed so that you have even pieces of rolls. Slice the roll into 8 equal pieces.
  • Place the rolls onto the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes or until lightly golden brown. Allow them to cool completely before frosting.
  • For the frosting: In a medium bowl, beat together cream cheese and butter until light and creamy. Gradually add confectioners’ sugar, vanilla extract, and milk, beating until smooth and creamy as desired.
Stir in crushed Oreo cookie pieces. Spread over cooled cinnamon rolls evenly. Sprinkle additional crumbled Oreo cookies over the top of the icing if desired. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.

Notes

• For a vegan version of these rolls, try using vegan butter, cream cheese, and non-dairy milk.
• You can also substitute the Oreos with other cookie varieties you have on hand, like chocolate chip cookies or graham crackers, for a different flavor!
• Make sure to let the cinnamon rolls cool completely before adding the frosting so it doesn’t melt off.
• If you don’t have confectioners’ sugar, you can make your own by blending regular granulated sugar in a food processor until it’s very fine in texture.
