Equipment

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup Melted butter cooled down
  • 3 tsp Bob's Red Mill Active Dry Yeast, Recommended
  • 5 1/2 cups all-purpose flour/Bread flour
  • 2 minced garlic clove
  • 3 tsp Pure Honey
  • 3 tsp olive oil or vegetable oil
  • 6 tsp dark molasses
  • Grated Parmesan Cheese
  • 2 1/4 cups water
  • 3 tsp kosher salt

Instructions

  • In a medium bowl, combine flour and active dry yeast. Stir until combined.
  • Add warm water, kosher salt, honey, molasses, and vegetable oil. Stir until everything is combined into a soft dough.
  • Knead for about 5 minutes on a lightly floured surface. The dough should be slightly sticky but not too wet.
  • Place the dough in an oiled bowl and cover it with a damp cloth. Allow the dough to rise for about an hour until it has doubled in size.
  • Split the dough into eight equal pieces and roll them out into long ropes. Twist each rope three times, then form it into a pretzel shape.
  • Place the pretzels on a lightly greased baking sheet and brush them with melted butter. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese over the top of each pretzel.
  • Bake at 375 degrees Fahrenheit for 12-15 minutes until golden brown. Allow to cool before serving.

Notes

  • To ensure the best results, make sure to use warm water when preparing your dough. This will help activate the yeast and give the pretzels a nice rise.
  • You can also add other spices like garlic or onion powder to add an extra layer of flavor to the pretzels.
  • Be sure to brush the pretzels with melted butter before baking, as this will give them a nice golden brown color.
  • For extra crunch and crispiness, you can brush the pretzels with an egg wash before baking.
  • For a sweeter pretzel, add a tablespoon of sugar to the dough.
  • You can also add your favorite herbs or spices to the dough for an extra flavor boost.
  • You can use a variety of cheese on top of the pretzels, such as cheddar, gouda, or even Parmesan!
