Equipment

  • 1 Baking pan
  • 1 Whisk

Ingredients

  • 1/8 teaspoon of salt intensifying the overall taste and bringing out the flavors of the other ingredients.
  • 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda contributing to the leavening process, resulting in a fluffy and well-risen outcome.
  • 1/4 cup of walnuts chopped, imparting a delightful nuttiness and a satisfying crunch.
  • 1/8 tablespoons of brown sugar firmly packed, adding a subtle caramel flavor and a touch of sweetness.
  • 1/2 can 7.5 ounces of Del Monte fruit cocktail in light syrup, adding juicy and flavorful fruits, creating a burst of sweetness and adding visual appeal to the dish.
  • 1 egg acting as a binding agent, ensuring a moist and tender consistency.
  • 1/2 cup of flour providing a light and airy texture to the final product.
  • 1/4 cup of sugar enhancing the sweetness and balance of flavors in the recipe.

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees then sift together the flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt.
  • Whisk your eggs with vigor until the mixture is thick and has taken on a beautiful lemon-yellow hue. Then, pour in undrained fruit cocktail to complete the concoction.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients and mix until everything is well-blended. Then, pour the batter into a greased 9″ square pan that has been dusted with flour.
  • Start by mixing together your favorite assortment of nuts and brown sugar. Sprinkle this sweet concoction atop the batter before sliding it into the oven for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Enjoy!

Notes

1. Make sure you use the right amount of Del Monte Fruit Cocktail – this is an essential part of achieving the perfect texture and flavor for your cake! Too little, and it won’t be moist enough; too much, and it will become overly soggy.
2. You can top off your Del Monte Fruit Cocktail Cake with fresh fruit, cream cheese icing, and a sprinkling of walnuts or other nuts.
3. If you’re looking for an extra-special touch, try mixing pieces of the Del Monte Fruit Cocktail into the batter.
4. For a healthier option, opt for baking your Del Monte Fruit Cocktail Cake instead of frying it – this will help to reduce fat and calories while still providing a delicious treat.
5. Be sure to cool your cake thoroughly before cutting it – if you cut into it too soon, the texture won’t be quite right.
Follow these tips and you’ll be sure to create a Del Monte Fruit Cocktail Cake that will make all your guests happy!
You can add extra syrup for added moisture if needed, but be careful not to go overboard since the fresh fruit already contains quite a bit of syrup.
