Equipment

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups of creamy milk lending a velvety and smooth consistency to the batter
  • 2 teaspoons of baking powder ensuring a fluffy and airy texture in the coating
  • 6 teaspoons of savory soy sauce delivering a depth of umami flavor to the dish
  • Oil for frying quantity may vary based on your preference, providing a satisfying crunch and golden brown exterior
  • 1 1/2 cups of all-purpose flour providing a light and crispy coating that seals in the juiciness
  • 2 teaspoons of rich brown sugar imparting a subtle caramel-like sweetness
  • 2 pounds of succulent and tender chicken breast perfect for a satisfying meal
  • 1 teaspoon of aromatic garlic infusing a delightful savory aroma
  • 2 large eggs beaten to perfection, creating a luscious and golden coating
  • 1 teaspoon of zingy ginger adding a touch of brightness to the flavors
  • Salt to taste enhancing the overall seasoning and bringing out the flavors

Instructions

  • Cut the chicken breast into small cubes and season with salt and pepper.
  • In a large bowl, mix together the flour, baking powder, milk and egg until fully combined.
  • Add the marinade ingredients – garlic, ginger, brown sugar, soy sauce – to the chicken pieces and toss until evenly coated.
  • Dredge each chicken piece in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
  • Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the chicken pieces. Fry until golden brown on both sides and cook through, about 5 minutes per side.
  • Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate and let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

• If you don’t have soy sauce, substitute it with Worcestershire sauce or tamari.
• If you want to make this dish a little bit healthier, try baking the chicken instead of frying it.
• You can also add other spices and herbs like paprika, or cumin to the marinade for extra flavor.
