Ingredients

  • 2-3 dashes of Worcestershire sauce a savory and tangy condiment, adding a delightful umami flavor that enhances the overall taste profile of the dish.
  • 1/2 bottle of fat-free zesty Italian dressing offering a tangy and herb-infused marinade that coats the chicken, infusing it with vibrant flavors and creating a delightful tanginess.
  • 1-2 dashes of liquid smoke flavoring imparting a smoky and robust element to the dish, reminiscent of slow-cooked barbecue flavors, elevating the overall taste experience.
  • 1/2 large onion finely chopped, contributing a mellow and savory taste, acting as a flavor base and adding a wonderful aroma to the dish.
  • 2-3 succulent chicken breasts tender and juicy, providing the main protein source for the dish, creating a satisfying and hearty meal.
  • 1 tablespoon of aromatic garlic finely minced, infusing the dish with a bold and savory flavor, adding depth and complexity to the overall taste.
  • 1/2-1 bay leaf adding a subtle and aromatic note to the dish, releasing its herbal flavors during cooking, enhancing the depth and complexity of the overall flavor profile.
  • 4 oz of sliced mushrooms adding a meaty and earthy quality to the dish, providing a satisfying texture and absorbing the flavors of the other ingredients.
  • 1/2 piece of shredded carrots minced, offering a delicate sweetness and vibrant color to the dish, providing a pleasing texture and a subtle hint of earthiness.

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Now, generously season each chicken breast with salt and pepper, then place in a greased baking dish.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, sauté the onion until it is soft and translucent. Then add the carrots, mushrooms, Worcestershire sauce, garlic, and liquid smoke flavoring. Sauté for another few minutes until the vegetables are softened.
  • Pour the vegetable mixture over the chicken breasts in the baking dish, then pour the Italian dressing on top of everything. Place the bay leaves on top of each breast.
  • At this point, you have to bake uncovered in preheated oven for 35 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through.
  • Now, remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving. Serve this dish with your favorite sides with your family.

Notes

  • If you don’t have Italian dressing on hand, you can use ranch dressing instead.
  • You can also add other vegetables to this dish such as bell peppers, celery, or zucchini.
  • To give the dish even more flavor, try adding some herbs and spices, such as Italian seasonings or paprika.
