Equipment

  • baking dish
  • Medium Bowl

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup of Parmesan cheese finely grated, provides a nutty and salty kick, imparting a depth of flavor and contributing to the golden, cheesy crust that forms on top of the lasagna.
  • 8 oz of flavorful Italian Sausage a savory and robust ingredient that adds a burst of aromatic spices, infusing the lasagna with a tantalizing aroma and a rich, meaty taste.
  • 4 oz of Creamette Lasagna a delightful pasta choice that cooks up perfectly al dente, offering a firm yet tender bite that holds up well in layered dishes like lasagna.
  • 1/2 Egg rounded to 1 whole egg, acts as a binding agent, helping to hold the filling together and creating a creamy and cohesive texture throughout the dish.
  • 12 oz of Prego Pasta Sauce a vibrant and tangy tomato-based sauce that coats the lasagna layers, adding a burst of zesty flavors and a velvety smoothness to each bite.
  • 1/2 teaspoon of sugar a secret ingredient that helps to enhance the natural sweetness of the tomatoes in the pasta sauce, creating a perfectly balanced and harmonious flavor profile.
  • Salt to taste, brings out the flavors of the dish and ensures a well-seasoned lasagna that is perfectly balanced in taste from the first bite to the last.
  • 1/2 tablespoon of dried parsley flakes adding a touch of herbaceous freshness to the dish, infusing the lasagna with a subtle earthy aroma and a pop of vibrant green color.
  • Ground black pepper to taste, adds a gentle heat and a hint of spiciness, elevating the flavors of the lasagna and balancing the richness of the cheeses and sausage.
  • 1/2 cup of Mozzarella cheese a melty and stretchy cheese that forms a gooey layer of deliciousness, creating a luscious and creamy texture as it melts and blends with the other ingredients.
  • 1/6 teaspoon of ground nutmeg a warm and aromatic spice that adds a delicate complexity to the lasagna, providing a subtle depth of flavor that complements the other ingredients.
  • 8 oz of Ricotta cheese a creamy and indulgent cheese that brings a velvety and luxurious texture to the lasagna, creating pockets of creamy goodness throughout.

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350F. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish. Cook the Italian sausage in a large skillet over medium heat, stirring occasionally until it is browned and cooked through (about 10 minutes). Drain any fat from the skillet.
  • In a medium bowl, mix together the ricotta cheese, egg, and parsley flakes. Spread 1/2 cup of the Prego pasta sauce into the bottom of the baking dish. Place 4 uncooked Creamette Lasagna noodles on top of the sauce.
  • Spread half of the ricotta mixture over each noodle, then spread all of the cooked sausages over the ricotta. Sprinkle 1/2 cup of Mozzarella and 1/4 cup of Parmesan cheese over the Italian sausage.
  • Place 4 more uncooked Creamette Lasagna noodles on top of the cheese layer, then spread with remaining Prego pasta sauce and top with remaining Mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
  • Sprinkle the sugar, nutmeg, and ground black pepper over the cheese. Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes in preheated oven. Remove from oven and let sit covered for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • If you want to make this ahead of time, you can assemble it and just keep it in the refrigerator until you are ready to bake. Make sure to cover it with plastic wrap or aluminum foil.
  • If you like a crispier top layer, take off the foil and cook for an additional 10 minutes.
  • Feel free to add other ingredients like mushrooms, olives, or bell peppers.
