Equipment

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups of shredded cheddar cheese delivering a sharp and tangy taste that melts beautifully into the sauce, creating a gooey and cheesy delight.
  • 1/4 cup of shredded Gruyere cheese lending a nutty and slightly sweet flavor that complements the lobster and adds complexity to the dish.
  • 1/4 teaspoon of garlic powder enhancing the savory flavors and adding a hint of aromatic garlic to the dish.
  • 1.5 tablespoons of all-purpose flour acting as a thickening agent to create a velvety and creamy sauce.
  • 1/4 pound of elbow macaroni pre-cooked to package instructions, providing the classic pasta base for the mac and cheese, ensuring a satisfying and comforting bite.
  • 1/4 stick of plain butter imparting richness and adding a smooth and decadent texture to the sauce.
  • 1 lobster tail pre-chopped and cooked, offering succulent and tender pieces of lobster meat, elevating the dish to a luxurious and indulgent level.
  • 1/4 cup of grated Parmesan cheese providing a tangy and nutty flavor that adds depth to the cheesy sauce.
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt seasoning the dish and enhancing the flavors of the cheese and lobster.
  • Pepper to taste, adding a touch of heat and balancing the flavors with a mild spiciness.
  • 1 cup of whole milk creating the base for a creamy and luscious sauce that coats the macaroni and lobster.

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F.
  • In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Once melted, whisk in flour until lightly browned and bubbly. Slowly pour in the milk, stirring continuously until thickened and smooth. Mix all three cheeses and seasonings (optional) until melted and combined.
  • In a large bowl, combine cooked macaroni, lobster tails and cheese sauce. Mix until the ingredients are well combined.
  • Pour the mixture into a greased 8×8 baking dish or an oven-safe skillet and bake for 20 minutes or until lightly browned and bubbly. Serve warm.

Notes

– For added flavour and texture, top the mac and cheese with toasted panko bread crumbs.
– Add some diced jalapenos or your favourite hot sauce if you want a spicier mac and cheese.
– If you can’t access lobster tails, use cooked shrimp or crab meat as an alternative.
– To freeze, cool the mac and cheese completely before transferring to a freezer-safe container and storing it for up to three months.
