  • In a medium bowl, mix together the cornmeal, flour, baking powder, garlic powder, onion powder and salt.
  • In a small bowl, beat together the milk and egg with a fork until well combined.
  • Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and mix until combined. The mixture should be thick and sticky.
  • Heat the oil in a deep fryer or pot to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).
  • Drop tablespoon-sized mounds of batter into the hot oil and cook for 3-5 minutes until golden brown and crispy.
  • Drain on paper towels and serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

-Make sure to use a thermometer to make sure the oil is at the right temperature.
-Use a spoon or small scoop to drop equal-sized mounds of batter into the hot oil. This will help ensure that they cook evenly.
