Equipment

  • strainer
  • hand masher
  • bowl

Ingredients

  • 4 ounces of luscious sour cream carefully crafted using rich and tangy cultured cream, adding a smooth and creamy element to the dish.
  • Chives thoughtfully chopped and added to your preference, providing a fresh and herbaceous note that complements the overall flavor profile of the dish.
  • A small handful of your choice of meticulously shredded cheese such as sharp cheddar, carefully selected for its bold and distinct flavor, adding a delightful cheesy indulgence to the mashed potatoes.
  • 1.5 pounds of hand-selected premium-quality potatoes, preferably russet or Yukon gold, chosen for their perfect balance of starchiness and flavor.
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper skillfully measured and added to taste, enhancing the flavors and bringing out the natural goodness of the dish.
  • 2 ounces of Hall's Beer Cheese skillfully softened to a creamy and velvety consistency, available in two tantalizing variations: Original or Hot 'n Snappy, allowing you to choose the level of spiciness to suit your taste buds.
  • 3 tablespoons of salted butter meticulously melted to a golden perfection, infusing the potatoes with a rich and savory flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon of milk or cream thoughtfully chosen to add a touch of creaminess and to help achieve the desired consistency of the mashed potatoes (feel free to adjust the amount as needed).

Instructions

  • Wash and peel the potatoes. Cut them into cubes to make them easier to boil and mash.
  • Place the cubes in a large pot of boiling water and add 1 tablespoon of salt. Boil for 12 minutes, or until they are fork tender.
  • Drain the potatoes in a colander and set aside.
  • In a saucepan, mix together the softened beer cheese and sour cream. Add the milk or cream & melted butter and stir until well combined.
  • Mash the potatoes with a hand masher until there are no more lumps.
  • Add the beer cheese mixture to the mashed potatoes and mix until completely combined. Season with salt & pepper, to taste.
  • Transfer the mashed potatoes to a serving dish and top with chives.

Notes

- If the mashed potatoes are too thick, add more milk or cream.
- You can also use other types of cheese for this such as cheddar, Monterey jack, or gouda.
- These mashed potatoes can be made ahead of time and reheated before serving.
