Equipment

Ingredients

  • 1 cup dark chocolate chopped
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 1 tsp icing sugar (I use confectioners icing sugar)
  • 1 1/4 cups of whipping cream
  • 2 tsp vanilla essence or extract

Instructions

  • In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream or whole milk on low-medium heat for about 5 minutes or until it is hot. Do not let it boil!
  • Add chopped dark chocolate and stir continuously to melt the chocolate and combine with the cream.
  • Once combined, remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in vanilla essence and icing sugar.
  • Allow the mixture to cool slightly before adding in the whipped cream. Gently fold it into the chocolate mixture until everything is combined.
  • Once combined, pour the mixture into a bowl or container and place it in the refrigerator for at least 2-3 hours to chill and set.
  • Once ready, serve your Chocolate Whip & Chill with some freshly whipped cream on top, and enjoy! You can also add some fresh berries or other fruits to the dessert for extra flavor.

Notes

  • Be sure to heat the cream milk slowly and not let it boil. Boiling will cause the chocolate to separate from the cream and ruin the texture of your dessert.
  • Don’t over-whip the cream, as this will make it too stiff and won’t achieve that fluffy, light texture.
  • To ensure an even layer of whipped cream, an offset spatula to spread it over the dessert.
  • For a light and creamy texture, chill your Chocolate Whip & Chill for at least two hours before serving.
  • Add different flavors such as orange or hazelnut to switch up the taste of this classic dessert.
  • Top with some crushed nuts, festive sprinkles, or chocolate shavings for an extra special touch!
