Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup fresh blueberries bursting with juicy goodness, adding a vibrant pop of color and a sweet-tart burst of flavor to each bite. The blueberries also offer a pleasant texture and visual appeal to the finished baked goods.
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt enhancing the flavors of the other ingredients and balancing the sweetness, creating a well-rounded and harmonious taste.
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour the versatile and essential ingredient that forms the base of the batter, providing structure and a tender crumb to the final baked goods.
  • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract imparting a fragrant and aromatic note, enhancing the flavors of the other ingredients and adding a touch of sweetness.
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted, infusing the batter with its rich and creamy goodness, adding moisture and a luscious buttery flavor that enhances the overall taste experience.
  • 1 large egg providing structure and binding the ingredients together, resulting in a tender and moist crumb.
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk or whole milk adding moisture and richness to the batter, contributing to a soft and tender texture in the final baked goods.
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar adding a delightful sweetness that caramelizes beautifully during baking, creating a golden and irresistible crust.
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder acting as a leavening agent, causing the batter to rise and ensuring a light and fluffy texture in the finished product.

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F and line a muffin tin with liners.
  • Mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
  • Take another bowl, and whisk together milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
  • Blend the wet mixture into the dry ingredients well and then add the blueberries.
  • Fill each muffin cup about 2/3 full with the batter.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean when inserted into a muffin.
  • Let the muffins cool in the tin for 5 minutes before transferring them to a rack.

Notes

  • It’s important to take your time when making muffins. Be sure to measure all of the ingredients carefully and incorporate them properly into the batter.
  • If desired, you can substitute frozen blueberries for fresh ones. However, keep in mind that frozen berries tend to release more liquid than their fresh counterparts. To prevent the muffins from becoming soggy, reduce the amount of liquid in the batter if using frozen blueberries.
  • To add a bit of crunch and decoration, sprinkle coarse sugar over the muffins before baking. This will give them a delightful sugary crust as they bake.
