Equipment

Ingredients

  • A pinch of salt and a sprinkle of freshly ground black pepper allowing you to season the dish to perfection, balancing the flavors and enhancing the overall taste experience.
  • 1/4 cup of freshly squeezed lemon juice extracted from the tangy and zesty essence of one large lemon, providing a bright and refreshing burst of acidity.
  • 1/8 tablespoon of aromatic and earthy sage leaves infusing a delightful herbal note that adds depth and complexity to the butter sauce.
  • 1/2 cup of creamy and luxurious unsalted butter offering a rich and velvety texture that will elevate the flavors of the dish.

Instructions

  • Melt 1 cup of unsalted butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Stir frequently and make sure to watch it closely as it melts, so you don't burn it. Once melted, turn down the heat to low and continue cooking for about 10 minutes until the butter has turned a golden brown color and smells nutty.
  • Add 1/4 cup of sage leaves to the butter and stir. Cook for another 2 minutes until the sage is fragrant. Pour in 1/2 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (from about 2 large lemons) and season with a pinch of salt and some freshly ground black pepper.
  • Bring the sauce to a low simmer and cook for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally until the sauce has reduced slightly. Take off the heat and serve.

Notes

  • Make sure to cook the butter on low heat and stir it frequently to avoid burning it.
  • Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning accordingly.
  • Serve the sauce immediately or store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • You can easily double or triple the recipe for larger servings and it freezes well too.
