  • ¼ tbsp garlic powder and
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 1/4 cup instant yeast
  • 1 1/2 tbsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup olive oil

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, combine 1 ½ cups of flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. Stir with a whisk until combined.
    Add the garlic powder or basil leaves (if using) and stir to combine.
    Add the olive oil and warm water. Stir until a sticky dough forms.
    Gradually add in the remaining flour, about ¼ cup at a time, stirring after each addition until a soft but not too sticky dough forms. You may need more or less than 1 ½ cups of flour depending on humidity levels and the type of flour used.
    Knead the dough for about 8 minutes until it is soft and elastic.
    Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let sit in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
    Punch down the dough and knead briefly before using.
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
    Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan with olive oil.
    Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface into a 12x16-inch rectangle.
    Spread ¾ cup of pizza sauce evenly over the dough, leaving about 1 inch around the edges.
    Sprinkle 2 cups of pizza cheese over the sauce.
    Top with your favorite toppings like pepperoni, mushrooms, olives, etc.
    Roll up the dough and place it into the greased pan with seam side down.
    Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
    Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • If you want a thicker crust, roll the dough out to an 11x14-inch rectangle before topping.
  • For a crispier crust, brush the top of the pizza bread with olive oil or melted butter before baking.
  • To help keep the toppings in place while baking, use a light hand when adding toppings.
  • Let the pizza bread cool slightly before slicing, otherwise, the toppings may slide off.
  • Make sure to use pre-shredded cheese if you don’t have a food processor or grater, as it will melt better in the oven.
  • Feel free to add your favorite herbs or spices to the dough for extra flavor.
