Equipment

  • pot
  • strainer

Ingredients

  • 1 cup of white wine vinegar
  • 2 pounds of red chili peppers
  • 2 tsp of salt

Instructions

  • Begin by thoroughly washing and drying your red chili peppers. Next, remove the stems from the peppers and finely chop them into small pieces. For a milder sauce, you can choose to remove the seeds before chopping the peppers.
  • In a medium-sized pot, combine the freshly chopped red chili peppers with a cup of tangy white wine vinegar and two teaspoons of salt. Stir the mixture well, then bring it to a gentle boil. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for 15 minutes. This will allow all the flavors to blend together perfectly.
  • After 15 minutes, remove the pot from heat and let the mixture cool down. Once cooled, pour it into a blender or food processor for a smooth consistency.
  • For a velvety texture, strain the blended sauce through a strainer or cheesecloth. This will remove any remaining chunks of pepper and provide a silky smooth finish to your Louisiana Licker Sauce. Finally, store your homemade sauce in an airtight container and refrigerate until ready to use.

Notes

  • For a thicker consistency, you can add a small amount of cornstarch to the sauce while it’s simmering.
  • Adjust the amount of red chili peppers according to your preferred level of spiciness. You can also mix different varieties of peppers for a unique flavor.
  • If you’re short on time, you can use canned chopped red chili peppers instead of fresh ones.
  • Be sure to wear gloves when handling the peppers to avoid any irritation or burns.
