Ingredients

  • 2 Cups Firmly packed light brown sugar
  • 1/3 Cup Dijon mustard
  • 1 Fully cooked spiral-cut ham
  • 2 Tbsp Pineapple juice

  • 1/4 Cup Honey
  • 20 Whole cloves
  • A Pinch Ground red pepper

  • 25 Ounces Pineapple slices
  • 8 Ounces Maraschino cherries
  • 3 Tbsp Yellow mustard
  • 3/4 Cup Packed light brown sugar

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F and line a roasting pan with aluminum foil for easy clean-up.
  • In a medium bowl, blend together light brown sugar, dijon mustard, honey, pineapple juice and pepper to create the glaze. Place ham at the center of pan and slather half of the glaze over it; set aside remainder for later use.
  • Place pineapple slices and whole cloves around the ham, with maraschino cherries nestled in between them. Remove any excess fat from the top of the ham, followed by sprinkling 3/4 cup packed light brown sugar over the top. Finally, brush a layer of yellow mustard to complete the presentation.
  • Slide into preheated oven and bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes. Halfway through baking process, baste ham with the reserved glaze to achieve a caramelized flavor and texture.
  • After time has elapsed, increase oven temperature to 400°F and continue baking for an additional 15 minutes or until deep golden brown in color and fully glazed.

Notes

  • Always use a whole cut ham, as pre-sliced hams will dry out too quickly in the oven.
  • Make sure to reserve some of the glaze before baking your ham, so you can baste it halfway through cooking.
  • Experiment with different types of fruits, such as apples or oranges, to give your glaze a bit of extra sweetness and flavor.
  • Cover the bottom of the roasting pan with aluminum foil for easier cleanup.
  • Make sure to line your roasting pan with aluminum foil before placing the ham in it, this will allow you to easily remove the cooked ham from the pan without making a mess.
  • If you are using a pre-cooked ham, make sure to follow the instructions on the package for baking times and temperatures.
