Equipment

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon of sour cream contributing a touch of brightness and a silky consistency, enhancing the overall creaminess and ensuring a harmonious balance of flavors.
  • 1/8 teaspoon of sea salt precisely measured to enhance the overall flavor profile, ensuring the perfect balance of seasoning.
  • 1/2 tablespoon of fresh dill finely chopped to release its aromatic oils, infusing the dip with a burst of herbaceous freshness that complements the seafood notes, and a bit reserved for garnish.
  • 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise carefully measured to bring a subtle tanginess, seamlessly blending with the cream cheese to craft a smooth and creamy sauce that envelops the shrimp in decadence.
  • 1/2 teaspoon of hot sauce carefully incorporated to bring a subtle heat that dances on the palate, intensifying the flavor profile without overpowering the delicate nature of the shrimp.
  • 1/2 teaspoon of fresh lemon juice precisely measured to add a zesty and citrusy kick, elevating the dish with a bright acidity that enhances the shrimp's natural sweetness.
  • 1/4 lb of succulent cooked shrimp showcasing the delicate flavors of small bay shrimp or the distinct sweetness of Oregon pink shrimp, promising a delightful seafood sensation in every bite.
  • 1/8 teaspoon of Old Bay seasoning a masterful blend of herbs and spices, sprinkled in just the right amount to impart a hint of complexity and depth to the dish.
  • 4 ounces of cream cheese ideally at room temperature, destined to form the luscious base of this dish, creating a rich and velvety texture that perfectly complements the other ingredients.
  • 1.5 large scallions chopped to perfection, their vibrant green hues not only infusing a burst of freshness but also offering a mild oniony note that plays harmoniously with the seafood and dairy elements.

Instructions

  • In a medium bowl, combine the cream cheese, mayonnaise, old bay seasoning, sea salt, sour cream, scallions, and lemon juice.
  • Mix until all ingredients are thoroughly combined. Using a food processor or hand mixer, blend until the dip is creamy and smooth.
  • Add in the shrimp and pulse in the food processor to break it down into small pieces. Add in the hot sauce, fresh dill, and black pepper, and mix until combined.
  • Place the dip in a bowl and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before you serve.

Notes

  • Make sure to thoroughly combine all of the ingredients before adding in the shrimp so that you don’t have any lumps in your dip.
  • It is best to let the dip cool and thicken in the refrigerator for at least an hour before serving. This will help all of the flavors meld together.
  • To give it a nice garnish, top it with additional chopped scallions. Also, feel free to add extra hot sauce if desired.
