  • 4 tablespoons light soy sauce
  • 4 teaspoonsn garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 2 teaspoons cilantro minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 tablespoons green onion minced
  • 4 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ginger minced
  • 1/2 cup carrots minced

Dipping Sauce:

  • 2 tablespoon chili oil
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 4 tablespoons light soy sauce
  • minced green onions optional
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • sesame seeds optional
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar

Others:

  • Rice paper

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare Filling

  • In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef. Drain excess fat if necessary.

Step 2: Add Flavors:

  • Add minced garlic, soy sauce, rice vinegar, cilantro, pepper, green onion, sugar, ginger, and minced carrots to the cooked ground beef. Stir well to combine. Cook until the carrots are softened and the flavors meld. Remove from heat and let it cool.

Step 3: Make Dipping Sauce:

  • In a small bowl, mix chili oil, sugar, light soy sauce, minced green onions (if using), sesame oil, sesame seeds (if using), and rice vinegar. Set aside.

Step 4: Prepare Rice Paper:

  • Dip a sheet of rice paper into warm water until it becomes pliable. Lay it flat on a clean surface.

Step 5.: Add Filling:

  • Spoon a portion of the meat filling onto the center of the rice paper.

Step 6: Fold And Seal:

  • Fold the sides of the rice paper over the filling and then roll it tightly from the bottom to form a dumpling. Seal the edges.

Step 7: Repeat:

  • Repeat the process with the remaining filling and rice paper sheets.

Step 8: Heat The Pan:

  • Put a pan on the stove over medium heat. Pour some cooking oil in the pan, enough to cover the bottom. Wait until the oil gets hot. You can check by flicking a drop of water into the pan – if it sizzles, it’s ready.

Step 9: Add The Dumplings:

  • Put the folded rice paper dumplings into the hot oil, folded side down. You can use a spatula to gently press down on the dumplings. This helps them cook evenly. Let the dumplings cook until they turn a nice golden brown color on one side. Flip them over and cook the other side until it’s golden brown too. Take the dumplings out of the pan. You can cut it in two pieces or serve it as it is.

Step 10: Prepare The Dipping Sauce:

  • Mix well all the ingredients of the dipping sauce. It is ready.

Step 11: Serve Or Refrigerate:

  • Serve the rice paper dumplings immediately with the prepared dipping sauce. Alternatively, you can refrigerate them for a short time before serving.

Step 12. Enjoy:

  • Enjoy these delicious and flavorful rice paper dumplings with meat, either as an appetizer or a light meal. Dip them in the savory sauce for an extra burst of flavor.

Notes

  • Keep the rice paper moist: Cover unused rice paper with a damp cloth to prevent it from becoming dry and brittle.
  • Customize the filling: Experiment with different ingredients such as shrimp, chicken, or tofu to cater to your preferences or dietary needs.
  • Be gentle when handling rice paper: Rice paper is delicate, so handle it with care to prevent tearing.
  • Enhance the dipping sauce: Adjust the chili oil and soy sauce quantities to suit your spice tolerance. Sprinkle sesame seeds and green onions on top for added flavor.
  • Cooked or raw fillings: While this recipe uses cooked ground beef, you can also use raw meat or vegetables. If using raw fillings, ensure they are finely chopped for quick and even cooking.
