Instructions
Start off by browning the ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once it's cooked through, drain off any excess fat and set aside.
In a slow cooker, combine the baked beans, onion, barbecue sauce, green chile, brown sugar, chili powder, hot pepper sauce, and garlic powder. Stir to mix all of the ingredients and then add in the cooked ground beef.
Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or until all of the flavors have blended together nicely. Once done, discard any excess fat that has been collected at the top of the slow cooker and season with salt and pepper to taste.Serve Rudy’s beans in a serving dish.
Notes
Make sure to drain off any excess fat from the ground beef before adding it to the slow cooker. This will ensure that your Rudy's beans are not greasy and more enjoyable to eat.
For a smoky flavor, try adding some liquid smoke or smoked paprika to the recipe.
When seasoning the dish, make sure to taste for salt and pepper first as this can really enhance all of the flavors.
If you prefer a thicker sauce, try adding 1-2 tablespoons of tomato paste or cornstarch to thicken it up.
