Equipment

  • a baking dish
  • A pan
  • A bowl to serve

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour expertly measured and sifted to create a light and silky roux, acting as a thickening agent to give the sauce a luscious and creamy consistency.
  • 2 tablespoons of butter meticulously crafted from premium cream, melting into a golden pool of richness and adding a velvety smoothness to the sauce.
  • 1/8 teaspoon of black pepper freshly ground to release its bold and aromatic notes, adding a subtle hint of warmth and depth to the sauce.
  • 1.5 cups of milk carefully selected for its richness and creaminess, adding a smooth and velvety texture to the sauce.
  • 4 oz. of shredded sharp cheddar cheese skillfully selected for its bold and robust flavor, melting into the sauce and creating a rich and cheesy delight.
  • 1/2 lb. of San Giorgio elbow macaroni thoughtfully chosen for its perfectly al dente texture, providing a satisfying bite to the dish.
  • 1/4 teaspoon of salt meticulously measured to enhance the flavors and bring out the natural taste of the ingredients, creating a perfectly seasoned dish.

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with butter.
  • Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil over high heat, and add the San Giorgio macaroni. Cook according to package directions, or until al dente (tender but still slightly firm). Drain and set aside.
  • In a medium saucepan over medium-low heat, melt the butter. Add the flour and stir to combine, cooking for about 2 minutes. Slowly add the milk, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Increase heat to medium-high and bring the mixture to a gentle boil, stirring occasionally.
  • Reduce heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes or until thickened. Add salt and pepper, then stir in the cheddar cheese. Stir until melted and combined.
  • Combine cooked macaroni with cheese sauce in the baking dish. Bake for 25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and bubbly.
  • Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

- To add more flavor, consider stirring in some diced jalapenos or crumbled bacon
- For a crunchy topping, sprinkle the top with crushed crackers or bread crumbs before baking
- To make this dish even creamier, stir in some cream cheese at the end.
