Instructions
Toast the Szechuan peppercorns in a hot pan over medium-high heat until they become fragrant and begin to turn brown, about 1-2 minutes.
Let them cool before grinding into a powder using a spice grinder or mortar and pestle.
Heat your choice of oil in the same pan over medium-high heat.
Add the ground Szechuan peppercorns to the hot oil and let them fry until they become fragrant and turn brown, about 1-2 minutes.
Turn off the heat and let cool before using this delicious Szechuan Peppercorn Oil!
Notes
Don’t forget to strain out any peppercorn pieces before adding the oil to your food.
If you’re feeling adventurous, try experimenting with different spices and flavor combinations!
Try adding 1/4 teaspoon of cumin or coriander to the oil for a subtle but delicious flavor.
