Equipment

  • bowl
  • Skillet

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp Cornstarch
  • 4 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp Garlic Salt
  • 6 tsp light brown sugar
  • 2 tsp plain chili powder
  • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
  • 1 tsp Onion Powder
  • 1 tsp Tumeric
  • 2 tsp paprika powder
  • 6 tsp Salt

Instructions

  • Mix all the ingredients together in a bowl and stir until everything is evenly distributed.
  • Rub the mixture onto your steak generously, making sure to cover both sides completely. Let it sit for about 10 minutes so the flavors can really soak into the meat.
  • Heat a skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat and add a bit of oil. Once the pan is hot, place your steak in the pan and cook for 4-5 minutes on each side.
  • Remove the steak from the skillet or grill pan and let it rest for 5-10 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • If you like a little more heat, add a bit of cayenne pepper to the seasoning mix.
  • To make sure your steak is cooked evenly and crispy on both sides, press down firmly with tongs while it's cooking.
  • You can also use this mixture as a rub for chicken or pork. Just adjust the cooking time accordingly.
