Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour, You might need more for dusting
  • 1/3  cup whole milk
  • ½ cup unsalted butter softened
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tbsp baking powder
  • Nonstick cooking spray

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F and lightly grease a baking sheet with cooking spray.
  • In a medium bowl, mix together the flour, salt, and baking powder until all ingredients are evenly distributed.
  • Cut the butter into small cubes and add to the dry ingredients. Using your fingers, incorporate the butter into the mix until it resembles a crumbly texture.
  • Slowly start adding in the milk while stirring or using your hands to knead together until it forms a soft dough. You may need to add more milk depending on how dry the dough is.
  • Dust a clean surface with flour and knead the dough for 1-2 minutes until it's nice and soft.
  • Roll out the dough to an even thickness of ¼ inch and use a biscuit cutter or glass to cut out circles in the size desired. Place the biscuits on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown and let cool before serving.

Notes

  • Use cold butter for the best texture.
  • If you don't have a biscuit cutter, use the rim of a glass or mason jar to cut out round circles.
  • For extra flavor, try adding herbs and spices such as garlic powder and dried herbs into the dough before baking.
  • Try using different types of such as almond or coconut for a different.
  • For extra flaky biscuits, try adding 1 of white vinegar to the mix.
  • If you want your biscuits to be more savory, try adding cheese or bacon bits to the dough before baking.
