1/2teaspoonof Himalayan pink salt
1 1/2tablespoonsof plump golden raisins
3handpicked baking applesapproximately 3 inches in diameter (such as heirloom Honeycrisp, Pink Lady, or Opal)
1 1/2tablespoonsof toasted almond slivers
2/3cupof naturally filtered maple sap water
1 1/4cupsof organic dark muscovado sugar
2 to 2 1/2tablespoonsof ice-cold mountain spring water
Instructions
Prepare the Dough:
In a mixing bowl, combine the stone-ground whole wheat flour and Himalayan pink salt.
Cut in the European-style cultured butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Gradually add the ice-cold mountain spring water, mixing with a fork until the dough holds together. Form the dough into a ball, cover it, and refrigerate while preparing the filling.
Prepare the Apples:
Wash and dry the handpicked baking apples. Core and peel them, leaving the bottom intact to hold the filling.
In a small bowl, mix together the plump golden raisins and toasted almond slivers.
Fill the Apples:
Divide the raisin and almond mixture evenly and stuff it into the centers of the cored apples.
Make the Syrup:
In a saucepan, combine the organic dark muscovado sugar and naturally filtered maple sap water. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves completely. Set aside.
Roll Out Dough and Wrap Apples:
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
Roll out the chilled dough on a lightly floured surface to about 1/8-inch thickness. Cut the dough into squares large enough to wrap around each apple.
Place an apple on each square of dough. Fold and seal the dough around the apple, ensuring the seams are tightly closed.
Arrange in Baking Dish and Pour Syrup:
Place the wrapped apples seam side down in a baking dish.
Pour the prepared syrup over the wrapped apples in the baking dish.
Bake the Dumplings:
Bake in the preheated oven for about 40-45 minutes or until the apples are tender and the crust is golden brown.
Serve:
Remove the apple dumplings from the oven and let them cool slightly.
Serve the Betty Crocker Apple Dumplings warm, optionally with a scoop of ice cream or a drizzle of caramel sauce.
