Equipment

  • An oven
  • large mixing bowl
  • and 9-inch springform pan

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons of pristine spring water carefully measured to achieve the perfect balance of moisture in the dish.
  • 1/2 teaspoon of freshly ground Tellicherry black pepper adding a bold and aromatic note to the chicken.
  • 1/4 cup of premium flour milled from the finest grains for a smooth and consistent texture.
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons of melted artisanal butter crafted using traditional churning methods for its rich and creamy taste. Plus, an additional 1 tablespoon of melted butter for topping the biscuits.
  • 1/2 pound of tender chicken breast cutlets carefully sourced from free-range chickens for their succulent and lean meat.
  • 1 teaspoon of hand-harvested sea salt renowned for its natural minerals that enhance the flavor profile of the dish.
  • 1/4 cup of creamy and wholesome milk sourced from grass-fed cows for its rich and velvety consistency.
  • 1 tablespoon of high-quality vegetable oil derived from a blend of select vegetables for a light and neutral flavor.

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the vegetable oil. Once the oil is hot, place the chicken cubes in the skillet. Sprinkle the chicken with salt and pepper and cook for 3 minutes per side or until golden brown.
  • Add the flour to the skillet and stir to combine. Cook for another minute, stirring constantly. Slowly pour in the milk and water while stirring continuously until combined. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes or until sauce has thickened.
  • Add 3 tablespoons of melted butter to the skillet and stir to combine. Pour the chicken and sauce into a 9-inch baking dish.
  • In a medium bowl, mix together the biscuit ingredients until a soft dough forms. On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough to ½ inch thick and cut it into 8 biscuits. Place the biscuits on top of the chicken in the baking dish and brush with the remaining 2 tablespoons of melted butter.
  • Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
  • Serve warm with your favorite sides.

Notes

  • For a spicy version, add chili powder or cayenne pepper to the sauce.
  • You can use any type of biscuit mix for this recipe – from store-bought to homemade.
  • Try adding other vegetables such as mushrooms or peppers to the dish for more flavor and texture.
  • You can also use pre-cooked chicken for this dish, just make sure to adjust the cooking time accordingly.
  • If you don’t want to use milk and water in the sauce, you can substitute with chicken broth or white wine.
  • If you find that the sauce is too thick, add a few tablespoons of water to thin it out.
