Ingredients

  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt enhancing the overall taste and balancing the flavors of the other ingredients.
  • 3/4 pound of coarsely chopped Roma tomatoes; cores removed providing a juicy and meaty texture, adding a burst of freshness to the dish.
  • 1/2 cup of peeled and chopped onion offering a savory and slightly sweet flavor, providing texture and depth to the recipe.
  • 2 tablespoons of fresh lime juice adding a tangy and citrusy zing, brightening the flavors in the dish.
  • 1/4 cup of fresh cilantro adding a vibrant and herbaceous flavor, bringing freshness to the dish.
  • 1/2 teaspoon of garlic infusing a pungent and aromatic note, enhancing the overall taste of the dish.
  • 1/2 ounce of fresh coarsely chopped serrano peppers providing a spicy and bold kick, adding heat and depth of flavor.

Instructions

  • Wash cilantro and serrano peppers, trim stems and discard.
  • Chop cilantro, serrano pepper, garlic and onion into small dice.
  • Place the cilantro, serrano peppers, garlic, onion and lime juice in a food processor or blender. 
  • Pulse until all ingredients are finely chopped and combined.
  • Add the tomatoes to the mixture and pulse again until everything is well blended.
  • Add salt to taste and pulse one last time to combine ingredients thoroughly. 
  • Serve chilled with chips or as a topping for tacos, burritos, enchiladas or your favorite Mexican dish!
