  • 1/2 tablespoon Salt heightening the flavors of the other ingredients, ensuring a well-balanced seasoning.
  • 4 oz Tomato sauce a vibrant and tangy element, lending a rich and savory base to the dish while enhancing its visual appeal.
  • 1/2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce introducing a robust umami flavor, adding complexity and depth to the overall taste.
  • 1/2 lb Lean ground beef a lean and flavorful protein source, providing richness and depth to the dish.
  • 1/2 tablespoon Black pepper providing a gentle heat and a hint of spiciness, enhancing the overall taste experience.
  • 2 tablespoons Water adding moisture and aiding in the even distribution of flavors throughout the sauce.
  • 1/2 tablespoon Garlic minced, releasing its aromatic essence, elevating the overall savory profile of the dish.
  • 1/2 tablespoon Chili powder lending a mild heat and a smoky undertone, enhancing the complexity of flavors.
  • 1/2 Onion finely chopped, infusing the dish with a mellow sweetness and adding texture and depth to the sauce.
  • 1/2 tablespoon Sweet paprika imparting a subtle sweetness and a vibrant red color, enriching the visual appeal of the dish.
  • 1/2 tablespoon Yellow mustard delivering a tangy and slightly spicy kick, contributing a zesty note that balances the other flavors.

Instructions

  • Brown the beef
In a large pot over medium-high heat, brown the ground beef. Use a wooden spoon to break up the meat into small pieces. Once it is fully cooked through, remove the beef from the pot and set aside.
  • Saute vegetables
Add the onion and garlic to the pot and sauté until they are fragrant and begin to soften, about 5 minutes.
  • Add remaining ingredients
Add the water, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, yellow mustard, ketchup, chili powder, sweet paprika, salt and pepper to the pot and stir to combine. Bring the mixture to a boil then reduce heat and simmer for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Add cooked beef
Once the chili has simmered, add the cooked ground beef to the pot and stir to combine. Simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
  • Serve!
Serve your hot dog chili over warm buns with your favorite toppings.

Notes

  • Feel free to adjust the spices in this chili recipe as desired. You can play around with adding more or less of each spice depending on how you like your chili.
  • To make a vegetarian version of this chili, simply omit the ground beef and add an additional 8 ounces of tomato sauce.
  • If you want a thinner chili, add an additional 1/3 cup of water and simmer for an additional 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
