Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and lightly grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
In a large bowl, blend together the butter and sugar until creamy and airy. Add in the salt, baking powder, and flour and mix until all ingredients come together.
Pour in the milk, rum or brandy, and eggs and blend together.
Gently fold in the raisins, chopped walnuts, candied cherries, and pineapple into the batter. Pour the mixture into your prepared pan and bake for 40-45 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the middle of the cake comes out clean.
Allow the cake to cool completely before serving.
