Equipment

  • spoon
  • aluminum foil tray

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons of finely chopped tarragon or 4 tablespoons of finely chopped dill releasing their herbaceous and aromatic notes to elevate the dish.
  • A pinch of salt and pepper delicately seasoning the halibut and harmonizing the flavors.
  • 4 fresh and delicate halibut fillets perfectly portioned to showcase their tender and flaky texture.
  • 4 tablespoons of luscious and creamy butter melting into a golden pool of richness to enhance the flavors.
  • 2 teaspoons of high-quality olive oil providing a smooth and subtle base for cooking the halibut.

Instructions

  • You should start off by making little aluminum foil trays sized to place each fillet. On the bottom of each tray, grease them with olive oil and put the fillets you will be using to make your Halibut with herbed butter.
  • Now, take a bowl and mix the chopped tarragon or dill with the melted butter in it along with some salt and pepper for taste.
  • After you place each of your fillets on trays, spread this mixture over them. Make sure to spread it evenly over the whole fillet including the sides.
  • You need to broil them for 4 minutes. Then, turn the tray and start broiling them from the other side - for another 4 minutes.
  • Now that your Halibut with herbed butter is ready, you can serve it with mashed potatoes or a fresh salad, your choice!

Notes

  • Ensure that the halibut fillets are completely thawed before baking them – this will ensure that they cook evenly and don’t dry out in the oven.
  • If desired, a few tablespoons of white wine can be added to the herbed butter sauce for an extra layer of flavor.
  • If you’d like to add some heat, a pinch of cayenne pepper or chili flakes can be added to the sauce.
  • When baking the halibut, make sure to watch it closely so that it doesn’t overcook – it should flake easily with a fork when done.
