  • 8 tbsp of smoky and tangy hickory barbecue sauce creating a rich and flavorful base.
  • 2 15 ounce cans of hearty black beans, drained, contributing a satisfying and protein-packed element.
  • 4 cups of perfectly cooked brown rice creating a wholesome and nutty foundation.

Instructions

  • Preheat a large skillet over medium heat.
  • In a large bowl, combine the barbecue sauce, molasses, beet juice, chili powder cumin, and black pepper. Stir in the beans and cooked brown rice until fully combined. Add more egg white if needed to bind them together.
  • Shape the mixture into four patties and brush each side with olive oil.
  • Place the burgers in the skillet and cook for about 5 minutes on each side, or until the outside is golden brown and crispy.
  • Add a slice of cheese to the top of each burger during the last minute of cooking, allowing it to melt.
  • Serve with your favorite toppings, like lettuce, tomato, and onion slices.

Notes

  • Make sure to use cooked and cooled rice for the best results in your veggie burgers.
  • If you don't have a skillet, you can also cook these patties on the grill or in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10 minutes.
  • To make the burgers more moist and flavorful, you can add a tablespoon of your favorite barbecue sauce or hot sauce to the patty mixture.
  • Serve these delicious veggie burgers in buns or by themselves with some sides like french fries, onion rings, or even a salad!
  • If you want to make this dish vegan, simply leave out the egg white and cheese.
