Equipment

Ingredients

  • 1/8 cup White onion minced
  • 1 cup shredded hash browns thawed frozen
  • 1 cup Grated white cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 tbsp Pompeian Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 2 tbsp melted salted butter
  • 1/2 tbsp Kosher salt
  • 1/2 tbsp finely ground black pepper
  • All-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tbsp garlic salt
  • 1 pounds wagyu ground beef
  • 2 cans Pillsbury Grands Southern Homestyle Original Biscuits

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • In a medium bowl, mix together the minced onion, grated Cheddar cheese, and thawed frozen shredded hash browns.
  • Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until it is no longer pink. Add the pepper and salt and cook for an additional 3 minutes.
  • Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with butter. Pour the ground beef mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it out evenly. Sprinkle the cheese, onion, and hash brown mixture over the top of the ground beef.
  • On a lightly floured surface, roll out the refrigerated biscuit dough. Cut the dough into 6 equal size rounds. Place the rounds over the top of the ground beef mixture and press down gently to seal. Brush the tops of each round with melted butter.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown. Sprinkle garlic salt over the top of each round and serve warm.

Notes

-Use a cast iron skillet if you have one to cook the ground beef in. This will help to give it an extra flavor boost.
-If your biscuit dough is too sticky, add a bit more flour to the surface before rolling out the rounds.
-To ensure your fatayer is cooked through, use a thermometer to check the center's temperature. It should be at least 165 degrees before removing it from the oven.
-If you’d like to kick your fatayer extra,  add some diced jalapeños or red pepper flakes to the cheese and onion mixture.
-For added crunch, top your fatayer with crispy bacon or crushed tortilla chips.
-Serve your fatayer with a side of Greek yogurt or sour cream for an extra delicious and creamy flavor.
