Preheat the oven to 350°F (177°C). Grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan and line it with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the vanilla extract.
In a separate bowl, sift together the flour and salt.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, mixing until just combined.
In a small bowl, beat the cream cheese until smooth. Gradually add this to the batter and mix until well combined.
Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and bake for 60-70 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Let cool in the pan for 30 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
