Ingredients

  • 2 ounces of reduced-fat cheddar cheese shredded into fine and meltable strands, creating a creamy and slightly tangy element that adds richness to the dish.
  • Salt and pepper to taste meticulously added to season the dish and balance the flavors, ensuring a well-seasoned and satisfying taste.
  • 1 clove of garlic skillfully minced to release its pungent and aromatic essence, infusing the dish with a delightful and flavorful undertone.
  • 1/2 cup of sliced mushrooms thoughtfully prepared to provide a meaty and earthy texture, adding depth and complexity to the overall taste.
  • 1/2 cup of low-fat milk thoughtfully chosen to provide a creamy and smooth texture, enhancing the overall richness of the dish without adding excessive fat.
  • 1/2 small onion finely chopped into delicate and aromatic pieces, adding a savory and sweet note that enhances the overall flavor profile of the dish.
  • 1/2 cup of chopped bell peppers carefully selected for their vibrant colors and crisp texture, offering a fresh and slightly sweet flavor to the dish.
  • 1.5 large eggs approximately 2 medium-sized eggs, skillfully cracked and whisked, offering a binding component that holds the ingredients together and adds a delicate richness to the dish.
  • Cooking spray carefully applied to the cooking surface to prevent sticking and ensure even cooking, allowing the ingredients to shine without any unwanted residue.
  • 1/2 cup of chopped zucchini skillfully added to provide a tender and mild taste, contributing to the overall texture and adding a subtle hint of freshness.
  • 1/2 pound of lean ground beef carefully selected with a minimum of 93% lean meat, ensuring a flavorful and protein-rich element that forms the base of the dish.

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F and lightly grease an 8-inch pie dish with cooking spray.
  • In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until it is fully cooked through. Then add in the onion, garlic, mushrooms, bell peppers, and zucchini. Cook for 5 minutes or until the vegetables are softened.
  • Remove the skillet from the heat and transfer the beef and vegetable mixture into the prepared pie dish. Sprinkle with cheese and spread it evenly across the top.
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, and pepper. Pour this egg mixture over the beef and vegetables in the pie dish.
  • Bake the pie for 25-30 minutes, or until the center is set and the cheese is melted and bubbly. Let cool slightly before serving.

Notes

-Make sure to cook the ground beef until it is fully cooked through.
-Feel free to substitute any vegetables of your choice according to what you have on hand.
-If you want a crispier crust, try baking it in an oven-proof skillet instead of a pie dish.
-For added flavor, try adding some finely chopped herbs or spices such as oregano, parsley, or cumin.
