In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium-high heat. Add the onions and sauté until softened.
Season the beef chuck steak with pepper, then add it to the skillet. Cook for 4 minutes per side or until lightly browned.
Lower the heat to medium and pour in the red wine. Cook for 1 minute, or until most of the liquid has evaporated.
Add the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and thyme to the skillet. Stir everything together and bring it to a boil. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 10 minutes or until the sauce thickens.
Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the flour until well combined. Return to medium-high heat and cook for 1 minute or until lightly browned.
