How was I initially introduced to the Outback Steakhouse Queensland Chicken and Shrimp?

I first visited the Outback Steakhouse when I took a trip to Florida with my family. We stopped for lunch and I was instantly intrigued by the menu item called Queensland Chicken and Shrimp. 

The combination of succulent chicken, juicy shrimp, and an array of flavorful sauces and spices seemed like the perfect meal for our road trip.

So, I decided to give it a try and I have to say, it was absolutely amazing! The combination of sweet and savory flavors made for one delicious dish. 

And, since then, I always make sure to order the Queensland Chicken and Shrimp when I visit the Outback. It’s quickly become one of my favorites!

However, the Queensland chicken and shrimp recipe I’ve shared today will give you a similar taste to the one enjoyed at the Outback Steakhouse. So, you can enjoy this delectable dish in the comfort of your own home.

Making Outback Steakhouse Queensland chicken and shrimp is easier than you think. All you need to do is prepare the ingredients, mix them together, bake them in the oven and voila!

How to make outback steakhouse Queensland chicken and shrimp?

Ingredients

• 1/2 cup milk

• 1/4 tsp poultry seasoning

• 2 tablespoons butter

• 1/2 pint cream

• 1/4 tsp cayenne

• 1/8 tsp white pepper

• 1/8 tsp onion powder

• 1/2 cup white wine

• 1 tbsp garlic powder

• 1 tbsp olive oil 

• 8 ounces of shrimp 

• 4 chicken breasts

Directions

Step 1 

Start by preheating your oven to 375°F.

Step 2 

In a medium-sized bowl, combine the milk, butter, cream, and spices (poultry seasoning, cayenne pepper, white pepper and onion powder).

Step 3

Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the white wine and garlic powder. Simmer for 2-3 minutes, then reduce the heat to low.

Step 4 

Add in the pasta and simmer for another 5 minutes or until it is al dente – careful not to overcook! Remove from heat and set aside.

Step 5 

Place chicken breasts into a baking dish, and lightly grease with olive oil or cooking spray. Pour half of the sauce mixture over top of the chicken breasts.

Step 6 

Bake for 20 minutes, flipping halfway through cooking time.

Step 7 

Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Add in the shrimp and sauté for 2-3 minutes or until cooked.

Step 8 

Once the chicken has finished baking, remove it from the oven and pour over the remaining sauce mixture on top of the chicken and shrimp, then bake for an additional 5 minutes or until bubbly.

Step 9 

Serve with your favorite sides, such as rice or mashed potatoes!

Tips

• If you prefer to use boneless skinless chicken thighs instead of breasts, reduce baking time by 5 minutes.

• For more flavor, add some chopped fresh herbs such as rosemary, thyme and basil.

• To make the sauce thicker, mix together 1 tablespoon of cornstarch with 2 tablespoons of cold water and add to the sauce while it is simmering.

Instructions

  • Add the pasta into the skillet and stir occasionally for about 5 minutes or until it becomes al dente – be careful not to overcook! Take off from heat and set aside.
  • Place the chicken breasts onto a baking dish, then brush with a light layer of olive oil or cooking spray. Pour half of the sauce mixture over the chicken breasts.

  • Reheat the same large skillet at medium heat and add 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Once heated up, put in the shrimp and sauté for around 2-3 minutes to cook it.
