How did I get introduced to Bahama Breeze Jerk chicken pasta?

I was having lunch with a group of friends at Bahama Breeze and I noticed that everyone was ordering the same meal – jerk chicken pasta.

Intrigued by this dish, I decided to give it a try myself. When my order arrived, I took one bite and immediately fell in love with its unique combination of flavors.

The creamy alfredo sauce combined perfectly with the spicy jerk seasoning and chunks of juicy chicken. It had just the right amount of heat and sweetness that left me wanting more.

Since then, whenever I go to Bahama Breeze, I always make sure to order their signature jerk chicken pasta – it’s become my favorite dish there!

Surprisingly, one of my friends, a chef, knew the recipe for the dish and could replicate it at home. I asked her to share the recipe with me, and she was more than happy to do so.

Now, whenever I’m in the mood for a delicious meal, I make sure to whip up a batch of Bahama Breeze jerk chicken pasta. It’s easy to make and always tastes amazing!

You can use any type of noodle you prefer – It can be bow tie pasta, linguine, rotini, or whatever other option strikes your fancy

Ingredients

  • ½ cup low-sodium chicken broth
  • 3 pcs boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • ½ tsp kosher salt
  • ¾ cup heavy cream
  • 3 tbsp jerk seasoning
  • 2 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1 orange bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 cup diced onion
  • 1 jalapeno, seeded and minced
  • ⅓ cup sliced green onions
  • 3  garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 Ib penne
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • ½ cup freshly grated Parmesan
  • ¼ cup chopped parsley

Instructions

Step 1

To infuse the chicken breasts with flavor, season them on both sides with 2 tbsp jerk seasoning and let them rest in the refrigerator for a minimum of 1 hour or up to 8 hours.

Step 2

Preheat your oven to 400 F.

Step 3

Bring the skillet to medium heat and add 1 tbsp of olive oil. Once heated, add chicken and cook for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown.

Step 4

Turn the chicken over and cook for an additional 3 minutes on its other side.

Step 5

Now, transfer the frypan from the stovetop to the oven. And roast the chicken for 25-30 minutes. You can use a meat thermometer to ensure it reaches the optimal internal temperature of 165 F to get the preferred tenderness.

But using the thermometer is totally optional.

Step 6

Take a pot. Add water and salt to it. Then, cook your pasta for around 7-8 minutes. Once it’s ready, drain it thoroughly and place it aside.

Step 7

Once the chicken is finished roasting, take it out of the oven, place it on a platter and cover it to maintain its savory goodness.

Step 8

Set a skillet over medium-high heat and pour in the remaining olive oil. Then, sauté the bell peppers and onions for at least 4 minutes until they are softened.

Step 9

Next, toss the jalapeno, green onions, and garlic into the pan. Let them cook for two minutes before pouring in your chicken broth to bring it all up to a boil.

Step 10

Reduce the heat to low and stir in the heavy cream, Parmesan and salt. Then, add the pasta to the mixture.

Step 11

Cut the chicken into thin slices and place them atop the pasta. For an extra flourish, sprinkle on some chopped parsley and sliced green onion to complete this entire dish.

Notes

  • For a perfect pasta dish, you should aim to cook it Al dente so that its texture remains intact when eaten. You can modify the jerk seasoning according to your flavor preferences.
  • Make this with red and orange bell pepper, or substitute in whatever you have on hand! And if the taste calls for it, don’t hesitate to sprinkle more Parmesan cheese.
  • Indulge in the pasta without guilt – each serving is typically 1,050 calories; however, this can be significantly decreased with a few simple modifications.
